Sunnyside Yard Rail Facility Tour

Sunnyside Yard is one of the largest rail yards in North America, servicing Amtrak and Long Island Rail Road trains between runs through Penn Station. On this tour, yard operations staff will walk us through how trains are inspected, cleaned, and turned around, and how the yard’s signaling and switching systems keep hundreds of trains moving safely each day.

What to expect:

• 2-hour guided walking tour of active yard facilities
• Explanation of train servicing, switching, and signaling operations
• Q&A with yard operations staff
• Closed-toe shoes and a valid photo ID required
