Tristate Infrastructure Observatory

See the Infrastructure That Powers the Tristate Region

We organize public tours of the power plants, ports, bridges, and treatment facilities that keep New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut running — and rarely let anyone see up close.

What We Do

The Tristate Infrastructure Observatory is a nonprofit dedicated to public understanding of the large-scale infrastructure that shapes daily life in the tristate area. We partner with utilities, port authorities, transit agencies, and engineering firms to organize guided public tours of power generation facilities, shipping ports, bridges, tunnels, and water treatment plants.

Our tours are led by the engineers, operators, and planners who run these systems every day — offering a rare, firsthand look at how the region’s infrastructure actually works.

Go Behind the Scenes

Step onto working sites most of the public never accesses — guided by the engineers and operators who run them.

Learn From Experts

Every tour is led by site staff and volunteer engineers who explain how these systems actually work.

Free & Low-Cost

As a nonprofit, we keep tours accessible — most are free or offered at a small suggested donation.
